Every great meal deserves to be followed by an incredible dessert. And when Nature's Pride Bread is in the mix, desserts go from incredible to simply divine. Try these recipes from Nature's Pride and they're sure to become some of your favorites.
Crispy Cinnamon Toast 'n' Berry Parfaits
Makes four servings
- 2 slices Nature's Pride® Honey Wheat soft bread
- 1 tablespoon light butter or margarine, melted
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 cup sliced fresh strawberries
- 1/3 cup fresh blueberries
- 1 carton (6 ounces) low-fat French vanilla yogurt
- 1/3 cup frozen, fat-free or reduced fat, whipped topping, thawed
- Toasted walnut pieces or slivered almonds, optional
Preheat oven to 400° F. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and spray foil with nonstick spray coating.
Cut each slice of bread in fourths, then cut each fourth into four small cubes, making 16 small cubes per slice. Place bread cubes in zip-top bag. Drizzle with melted butter; seal and shake bag to lightly, but evenly coat the bread cubes. Combine sugar and cinnamon and sprinkle over bread cubes. Seal bag and shake to coat evenly.
Spread bread cubes in a single layer on foil-lined baking sheet. Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until lightly brown and crisp, stirring once midway through baking. Set aside to cool.
Layer about half of the strawberries in the bottom of four individual-size (about 8 ounces each) parfait glasses or dessert bowls. Top with about half of the blueberries. Spoon about half of yogurt over the fruit. Top with half of the crisp bread cubes. Repeat layers.
Garnish the top of each dessert with a dollop of whipped topping. If desired, garnish the top of each parfait with a few toasted walnuts or almonds.
Tip: To toast walnuts or almonds, spread nuts in a single layer on a baking sheet. Bake at 375° F. for about 5 minutes or until golden.
